What we store

Cookies and data · last updated 14 August 2026

The short version: we use one cookie to keep you signed in. Everything else we keep is the results you asked for, and you can get a copy or have it deleted with one email.

The one cookie

Signing in sets a cookie so the next page knows it’s still you. It’s our own cookie, it only holds a session ID, and it expires when your session ends. It’s the only cookie Ledger sets.

No ad cookies, no analytics cookies, and no outside scripts setting cookies for us.

Saved in your browser, never sent to us

Two things are saved in your browser and never uploaded: your light or dark mode choice, and the utm_ tags from the link you came in on, if there were any. The tags are cleared when you close the tab.

What we store about your business

Your web address and what we read on its public pages. The questions we write for you. The full text of every AI answer, so you can read exactly what was said. Which businesses were named, and which websites were linked.

Who else sees it

Your questions are sent to the AI companies we check, like OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Perplexity, because asking them is the whole service. Your business name only goes with a question if the question includes it.

We don’t sell anything, and we don’t share anything with advertisers. We never publish anything, email anyone, or change your site without your OK.

How long we keep it

We keep answers and results as long as your account is open, since the point is comparing today to a few months ago. Delete a brand and its answers and results are deleted right away. Ask us to close your account and we delete everything.

Getting a copy or deleting it

Email hello@ledger.app and ask. We’ll send you everything we have, or delete it. No forms and no 30-day wait.

This page is written to be easy to read, not to cover every legal detail. If anything is unclear, tell us at hello@ledger.app.
